The parliamentary elections to be held on
December 6 have some peculiar characteristics. First of all, the maduro-cabellismo
regime will get there being the same minority as some time ago. This marks the
first time since 1998 that the democratic sectors of the country have a
majority of the Venezuelan electorate, as all opinion polls reflect. In addition, the maduro-cabellismo regime is
still doing without a leader. Neither of them have been able to replace the
late Hugo Chávez. It is true this will not be the first election without
Chávez, but the date of his passing is increasingly distant now and his memory has
resulted in a deep rift within chavismo and the people who call themselves
chavistas and that continue to support the Government, and those who bear an
important distinction: they are chavistas but not maduristas in any way. More…
