The Venezuelan Diaspora

The first six months were tough for Venezuelan Carlos Dias and his Brazilian wife. At the start of the Venezuelan crisis three years ago, the couple left the Venezuelan island of Isla de Margarita for Boa Vista, the capital of Brazil's northernmost state of Roraima

They rented a house with two giant, lofty mango trees in the backyard. At first, they lived off the fruits of the trees – eating mangoes day and night – and selling mango jelly to get by. Eventually the couple made lunches to sell to local construction workers and saved enough to start a pizza business More….
