Venezuela Elections Without Opposition? Maduro Government OK With That Policy


The loss is minor, as the subway union has only a few thousand employees, but opposition leaders worry that elections without opposition will become the “new normal” in socialist Venezuela. On Tuesday, Maduro said there was no date yet for the long-delayed state governor, municipal (mayors) and state assembly elections. By law, they should have been held before the end of 2016, but a vast majority of pro-Maduro governors and mayors have just stayed on “con el periodo vencido”, or with expired terms. More…
