Mitzy Capriles, the wife of Caracas Mayor
Antonio Ledezma, who on Sunday has been under house arrest for exactly two
years, publicly read a document in which she said that her husband believes the
Nicolas Maduro government should release all political prisoners to reactivate
dialogue with the opposition. Capriles made her statement during a special
session of the Venezuelan Parliament, which has an opposition majority and
which on Sunday paid tribute to Ledezma, 60, at an event held at a sports venue
near the mayor’s residence, where he remains under house arrest. “If they want
to revive that frustrated dialogue from last year, first let them release the
political prisoners, Antonio Ledezma, Leopoldo Lopez, Daniel Ceballos,” said
