The division within the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) on the
Venezuelan crisis at the Organization of American States (OAS) surfaced this
week for the second time within three months. In this week’s vote the four
countries whose leaders met with US President Donald Trump
last week, voted in favour of an OAS resolution further
critical of the leadership of President Nicolas Maduro in Caracas. The Bahamas,
Haiti, Jamaica and St Lucia voted in favour of the resolution. Guyana
which was not at the Trump meeting also voted in favour. Antigua and
Barbuda, and St Vincent and the Grenadines voted against the resolution adopted
