‘Somos Uno: Venezuela’ in Brunswick to call for solidarity with the poor


“The heart of life keeps beating in the midst of the tensions and uncertainties.” The words of Sister Maigualida Riera (“Sister Mai”) a Medical Mission Sister (MMS), offer an apt description of her life in Venezuela, where she promotes life, peace and faith in what is now one of the most violent and poor countries in the world. At 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 4, all are encouraged to join Sister Mai as she participates in a special event entitled “Somos Uno: Venezuela” (“We are One: Venezuela”) at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 132 McKeen Street. The event will include a Spanish Mass at 5 p.m. followed by a dinner of beans, rice, and tortillas at 6 p.m. More…
