The Brazilian government on Tuesday said
that it will evaluate the situation of about 1,000 Venezuelans who have crossed
the mutual border to take up residence in the northern state of Roraima, where
authorities are asking for federal help to take care of them. Justice Minister
Alexandre de Moraes welcomed in Brasilia Roraima Gov. Suely Campos, who asked
for federal funds to take care of the needs of the immigrants. According to
official figures from the Justice Ministry, since January some 1,800
Venezuelans have entered Roraima and requested asylum or refuge for various
