Venezuela's Maduro Sticks to the "Plan for the Homeland"

Today Venezuelans corroborate with reliable data from the Center for Documentation and Social Analysis of the Venezuelan Federation of Teachers (Cendas-FVM) the economic blow being delivered to their pockets every day by the so-called "socialism of the 21st century." It should be remembered that for 20 years, Cendas-FVM has reported the cost of the Basic Basket of Goods for a family of five. Cendas-FVM reported that its basic basket cost Bs.97,291.86 (or $15,443 if calculated at the fictional official rate of Bs.6.30 per dollar) in September of this year, Bs.18,680.21 (23.8%) higher than August, and representing an increase of Bs.71,905.90 (283.3%) for the past 12 months. This is the second highest inter-monthly variation so far this year and a cumulative variation of Bs.67,115.04 (222.4%), up Bs.57,351.13 (587.4%) from the same period a year ago. More…
