BY 2016, a number of non-tariff barriers
that, for decades, prevented Venezuelan products from entering Trinidad and
Tobago will be removed, as Venezuelan president Nicolas Maduro and T&T
Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley grease the wheels of bilateral trade at an
upcoming Caracas summit. The prediction
was made by Venezuelan Ambassador to Trinidad and Tobago Coromoto Godoy
Calderon during an interview at her embassy office in Port of Spain on November
4. “I am sure 2016 is the year,” she said. “Venezuelan flowers, marble, cheese,
Trinidadian shampoo and many other products,” will flow freely across the
