A Supreme Court More Tailored to the Needs of Venezuela’s Ruling Elite?


Trying to avoid a disadvantageous outcome at the upcoming parliamentary election to be held in December of this year, lawmakers from Venezuela’s ruling party are resorting to dirty tricks once more. On Monday, the Judicial Nominations Committee of the National Assembly published a "curious" call for nominations of candidates for the position of judge to fill five chairs of the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ), which closes on Friday. So it is expected that before the Christmas recess of the Parliament, the TSJ will have five new judges faithful to the Bolivarian revolution for the next 12 years. More…
