Guyana wants world court to decide territorial dispute with Venezuela


President David Granger said Monday that Guyana will ask the International Court of Justice to rule on its territorial quarrel with Venezuela over the Essequibo region. "We have to resolve this matter by juridical means. We will be going to court. We are not interested any longer in a sterile Good Officer process. We are going to go to court and settle this matter," Granger told the media. The Good Officer process was launched by the United Nations 23 years in the hope of fostering a resolution of a dispute that dates from the late 19th century. More…
