Colombian president to visit northern border with Venezuela


Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos said Monday that he will travel to the northern La Guajira department, bordering Venezuela, after two Venezuelan military airplanes reportedly violated the country's airspace during the weekend. Santos will visit Rioacha, La Guajira's capital, and Paraguachon, located right on the border, in order to verify the situation of the Colombians who have been recently removed from Venezuela upon order of President Nicolas Maduro. He will also introduce to the local community the economic aid offered by the central government after the area was decreed as a state of economic emergency due to the diplomat crisis between Bogota and Caracas, in an effort to meet the needs of those returnees and to support Colombians living at the border.
