The Economic Crisis in Venezuela Has Gotten So Bad That Patients Have to Wait Weeks for Medical Treatment


Venezuela's months-long economic crisis ​has gotten so bad that the country is now facing a major medicine shortage, Fox News Latino reports.  In fact, according to Freddy Ceballos, president of the Venezuelan Pharmacist Federation, the country doesn't have enough chemotherapy drugs, birth control pills, acetaminophen, CT scanners, syringes, bandages, and biopsy needles. "The situation has never before been seen here," he said.  This means that not only are patients waiting longer and longer to receive their treatment — at one children's hospital in Caracas, 120 patients have been waiting for more than two weeks for 20 different types of cancer medications — but they're trying to get medication any way they can.
