Prelate calls for greater press freedom in Venezuela


A Venezuelan prelate known for his candid criticisms of the regimes of Hugo Chávez and his successor, Nicolás Maduro, has called for greater freedom of the press in the South American nation. “Without social communications there can be no democracy which is the system which teaches us how to be free, to communicate without restrictions and be able to express our opinions and criteria on matters regarding our country,” said Archbishop Roberto Lückert León of Coro.
