More Populism, Demagoguery in Venezuela

The governments of Hugo Chávez and Nicolás Maduro have specialized in creating illusions of prosperity, justice and progress. A cruel practice indeed, because Venezuelans sooner rather than later end up being mugged by reality, as they are forced to face problems they thought were overcome and that now are worse than ever. One of the most brutal of these practices are the programs offering Venezuelans some sort of university degrees from medicine, law to industrial and oil areas that don’t comply with minimum academic standards. Until now the most emblematic case of them all was that of the "integral communitarian doctors," because their exercise of the medical profession poses a risk to the lives of the population due to their poor training and basic skills.
