Restoration of US-Cuba Relations May Improve Dialogue With Venezuela


The opening to Cuba marks not only a legacy achievement for Obama but also a major application of his presidential doctrine of negotiating with enemies, a concept that now faces an even tougher test with a nuclear deal reached with Iran last week. At this point, Kerry speaks of the need to go beyond the years of hard feelings initiated when President Kennedy grappled with the Cuban revolution and coinciding Soviet expansionism that almost led to war in October 1962.
