A Long Forgotten Issue by Venezuela Suddenly Back on the Table

President Nicolás Maduro announced the establishment of a commission involving officials of different bodies of the Venezuelan State in a speech before the Parliament last Monday. The only detail, whatever the outcome, is that those who make up the Parliament today will favor the Government all the way, thus leaving out everybody else opposing it The military paraphernalia seen when the event started made many fear the worst. This brought back memories of the Falklands for many, but the words of Nicolás Maduro scattered, at least for now, the possibility of any militaristic adventure to retrieve the Essequibo. More…
