Caracas Opposition Mayor Detained on Anniversary of Protests

Ledezma was detained by Venezuelan police one day after government opponents
marked the anniversary of the arrest of Leopoldo Lopez, another opposition
leader. Ledezma, 59, is being held at the intelligence service’s headquarters
in Plaza Venezuela in Caracas, El Hatillo municipal Mayor David Smolansky wrote
on Twitter. He was forcibly taken around 5:25 p.m. local time (4:55 p.m. EST),
