McDonald's restaurants in Venezuela have begun offering a
side of fried yuca after the U.S. fast-food chain ran out of French fries in
that South American country. "There is currently a temporary issue with
distribution, which we are trying to resolve," said Sonia Ruseler, senior
director for corporate communications at Arcos Dorados, which runs McDonald's
franchises in Latin America. In addition to yuca (or cassava) and arepas - the
traditional Venezuelan cornmeal cake - the chain also is offering yogurt, ice
cream or salad as side dishes.More…
