Venezuela’s Maduro is fighting a Losing Battle


The man appears more insecure every time. He’s being overwhelmed by all the events. He was never a good imitator of his "father" Hugo Chávez when taking the floor, and time has made this more evident. He denies the reality as he takes refuge in battles fought more than a hundred years ago. He brings up the subject of patriotism in a bid to gain support. Bread becomes scarcer and more expensive, while his spectacle is sadder each day. He is aware that Venezuela has less foreign currency each day that passes. When the slump in oil prices was already an irreversible trend, at least for now, he assured that his government would have no problem with that.More…
