Venezuela, a Year Later


The people expected Maduro to sustain the country, but things have not worked out in his favor. Currently, the country’s inflation is running over 60% and supermarkets have a hard time restocking food on the shelves due to the scarcity. The number of low-income Venezuelans is growing every day, this has spiked up the crime and drug crimes across the country.  Venezuela now has one of the highest murder rates in the world. A fruit stand vendor had this to say about the country’s issues "Never in my 56 years of life have I seen the country like this. I'm never voting for this government again," he grumbles as motorbikes zip up the Steep Street and shopper’s mill around, I don't have a life anymore. Everything is a queue". More…
