Venezuela's opposition alliance, the
Democratic Unity Roundtable (MUD), confirmed on Thursday that it would take
part in a dialogue with the government in the Dominican Republic on Dec. 1-2. In a statement, the MUD said it would
participate in the meeting "to achieve a process that allows us to build
the conditions for change that Venezuela needs." The MUD had previously stated many times that
it would not sit down for such negotiations with the government of President
Nicolas Maduro. However, this time, the
MUD said the government had accepted a "formal negotiation" with the
participation of the foreign ministers of Mexico, Chile and Paraguay. More…
