In 2010, Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez ordered the
expropriation of the supermarket chains Exito and Cada after they were accused
of speculating with the prices. The stores across the country later became
Abastos Bicentenario. The supermarket chain created by the government has been
around for years but that could soon change as most stores are nearly empty. On
Monday, it was announced that the supermarket chain would return to the private
sector. More than half of the stores that once offered items at lower prices
