Venezuela: Attorney General's Offices Closed In Capital
The offices of the Venezuelan attorney
general in Caracas are closed, and access to them is being restricted, Efecto
Cocuyo reported July 7. The closure came about after the attorney general's
office apparently rejected the government's attempt to name Judge Katherine
Harrington as deputy attorney general in defiance of current Attorney General
Luisa Ortega. In another episode of Venezuela's turmoil, Ortega is also
apparently taking refuge inside the offices because of the risk of being
arrested under a warrant issued by the Supreme Court. More…
