The decision of the Supreme Court of
Justice (TSJ) to accept a pre-trial process against Luisa Ortega Díaz, the
Attorney General of the Republic, is another step in the path towards
dictatorship in its purest form by the government of Nicolás Maduro. It is also
a clear message to any other leader or official of the chavista regime who
dares to oppose the reigning authoritarianism in the country. Ortega Díaz has
been targeted by the maduro-cabellista government from the moment she decided
to act institutionally. Her differences are not new as some may believe. They
started after December 6, 2015, when the majority of Venezuelans voted for the
candidates of the Democratic Unity Roundtable (MUD) opposition coalition to the
