According to Andrés Eloy Méndez, general manager, Conatel,
anonymity enables users to carry out crimes against other users or larger
groups of people, even countries. “Anonymity cannot be the norm on social
media. You can say whatever you want, but you have to be responsible for it and
can’t say it covered by anonymity,” said Méndez. “We’re working on a procedure
to unveil the identity behind any social profile.” The announcement arrives at
a time of growing political instability in Venezuela, with the Government
