The Community of Latin American and Caribbean
States (CELAC) will hold a special meeting in San Salvador on May 2 to discuss
the situation in Venezuela, Venezuelan Foreign Minister Delcy Rodriguez said
Wednesday. Rodriguez made the announcement in a Twitter post and urged support
for the position laid out by El Salvador, which currently holds CELAC’s
presidency. El Salvador said in a statement that the sole reason for holding
the meeting “will be the discussion of threats against the constitutional
democracy in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, and interventionist
activities against its independence, sovereignty and self-determination.”. More…
