The Peruvian Government on Thursday
condemned the rupture of democratic order in Venezuela and announced the
permanent withdrawal of its Ambassador to the Bolivarian nation. In a release,
Peru's Foreign Affairs Ministry addressed the Venezuelan Supreme Court decision
to take over the powers of the National Assembly (Congress). The Ministry calls the decision "an
arbitrary measure that violates the rule of law," as well as "a
rupture of constitutional and democratic order" in the neighboring
country. "The decision made by the
[Supreme] Court on March 27 granting the Venezuelan President powers that
constitutionally belong to other branches of government is an egregious breach
