Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro said
“”I don’t want problems with the Trump administration” in a speech Wednesday
after U.S. President Donald J. Trump, Reuters reports. Earlier this week, the
U.S. slapped sanctions on Maduro’s new vice president, Tareck El Aissami, and
another man. The Venezuelan VP has denied U.S. allegations of drug trafficking.
He was interior minister under Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez. Ties between
Venezuela and Iran in that era, including a now-cancelled, non-commercial
weekly flight connecting Caracas with Damascus and Tehran, have raised
questions about Venezuela’s ties to terrorism, The Washington Post
