Desperate Venezuelans get ID card from government


In Venezuela, a new identification card is being issued to all citizens. The government is calling it the Card of the Nation, saying it will allow the government to attend to people's urgent needs, as well as communicate with them directly. The opposition is calling the card a rationing card, and a way for the government to keep control of the country. The minister of People's Power for the Communes and Social Movements, Aristóbulo Istúriz, said that the Card of the Country will allow the government to capture the demands of the needs of the people.
