Members of a movement of Venezuelans
living abroad appeared before the Organization of American States to denounce
alleged human rights violations by President Nicolas Maduro’s government. Five
representatives of the movement met Friday with OAS Secretary-General Luis
Almagro for more than an hour at the organization’s headquarters in Washington.
Fernando Rendon, of the organization Venezuelans Active Abroad (VAEX), told EFE
after the meeting that Almagro – a leading international critic of Maduro – was
receptive and urged them to continue to demand respect for the human rights of
