Venezuela: Supreme Court Could Rule Against Recall Referendum
The Venezuelan Supreme Court could rule
on Oct. 11 against holding a referendum to recall President Nicolas Maduro, El
Nacional reported Oct. 10. The opposition Democratic Unity Roundtable (MUD)
coalition has called an emergency meeting to discuss the issue and to plan a
counter step. Under regular political and economic conditions, a referendum
would not necessarily threaten the government, but Venezuela is mired in a deep
