Russia may start supplying wheat to Venezuela by the end of
this year if the two sides agree on a draft food safety and phytosanitary
document already prepared by Moscow, Russia's agricultural watchdog
Rosselkhoznadzor said Wednesday. Venezuela relies almost exclusively on imports
to satisfy its demand for wheat, the watchdog added, noting that the country
imports some 120,000 tonnes of grain from the United States and Canada every
month. The announcement comes a month after the Russian government said it
decided to lift export duties on wheat that were imposed in 2015 to stabilize
