Venezuela to privatise firms seized by state


President Maduro is battling to stop Venezuela’s opposition parties reversing his nationalisation programme as the country stands on the brink of economic collapse. About 1,200 nationalised companies have already been identified for a return to private ownership if a vote is passed in parliament today. Under new measures, the parliamentary assembly will audit companies to see how productive they have been under state control and make unused land available to food producers. More…
