Involved in a legal dispute with oil
giant Chevron, Ecuador announced on Monday it would propose during a meeting on
Wednesday in Caracas with delegates from different countries the incorporation
of a multistate observatory of transnational corporations, AFP reported. The meeting, which will be attended by
representatives of South America, Central America, and the Caribbean, is
intended as a "follow-up of the debate on how we can put together data and
our assessments to defend ourselves from some transnational companies,"
