Spain suspends sale of riot control gear to Venezuela

The Spanish government has suspended indefinitely the exports of riot control gear to Venezuela, "given the spiral of violence in the country since the beginning of February," Spanish newspaper El País reported on its website. The decision was adopted by the Inter-Ministerial Regulatory Board on Foreign Trade in Defense or Dual-Use Material (JIMDDU), which comprises representatives of the departments of foreign affairs, defense, interior, commerce or finance, on March 6.
