Concerns that Venezuela’s president Nicolás Maduro may be
tightening the state’s grip on the media are growing amid a wave of demonstrations
against curbs on democratic liberties, rampant crime and a rapidly
deteriorating economy, after protests turned deadly last week. The socialist administration controls most of the country’s
