The deaths of two German tourists at the hands of thugs on Venezuela’s Margarita Island, has seen the public calling for action. The popular Caribbean island destination, which attracts over two million tourists a year, has seen crime rates rising in recent years. The high levels of crime are now beginning to affect the quality of life and the island’s residents say they are scared to walk in the streets after dark.
