Cardinal urges Venezuelan gov't to ensure mass media diversity
Cardinal Jorge Urosa Savino urged the Venezuelan government to solve the issue relative to the sale of US dollars to mass media via the Foreign Exchange Administration Commission (Cadivi), in order to ensure mass media diversity. "The country must not remain in darkness; there cannot exist one single newspaper only. There must be room for the mass media; they are important for development. What is more, information is a right," said the cardinal after announcing the establishment of the National Committee of the Venezuelan Bishops' Conference aimed at commemorating the 150 years of the birth of Dr. José Gregorio Hernández.
