Brazil to Call Regional Parliamentary Session on Venezuelan Authoritarianism
The head of the Brazilian Chamber of Deputies, Rodrigo Maia, welcomed on Wednesday his counterpart from the Venezuelan National Assembly, opposition politician Julio Borges, and announced that a session of the Latin American parliament will be convened to “deal with” the “authoritarianism” of the Caracas government. “The president of the Assembly brought information about the seriousness of the situation” in Venezuela, which “concerns ... democrats throughout Latin America,” and thus “we will sponsor a regional debate on the parliamentary level to help Venezuela restore its democracy,” Maia told reporters.
